This photo shows our bovine venipuncture prototype model.
It will allow for jugular sampling as well as intramuscular and subcutaneous injection training. The unit is based on our beef model and will be tested at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The jugular vein is connected to a tank that creates a small amount of pressure in the vein. The vein itself can be replaced once it has had multiple punctures.
Once we have had the unit tested and have made any changes necessary we will create a dairy cow version and an equine version.
