Veterinary Simulator Industries Ltd. has begun preliminary development on a canine simulator unit. Some of the features that various veterinary educators have deemed important are as follows, nasogastric (nasoesophageal) tube placement, esophagostomy tube , gastrostomy tube placement, catheterization, venipuncture site(s) and spay/neuter module. Ideally the unit would have a realistic weight and movement similar to our calf model, with similar construction. The spay/neuter module and venipuncture would be designed to be easily and inexpensively replaced. We will post our progress and would welcome feedback and ideas from veterinary educators.

Along with the development of the canine unit, we are continuing work on the equine colic unit to get it into a production version. We are testing materials and methods to improve upon our prototype units currently in use at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

In order to create units that are accurate, functional, and cost effective, the development process can be time consuming and costly.
