Another project we are currently working on is a suture training model that accurately simulates flesh to help train students with various suturing techniques. We are attempting to re-create the layers of skin to allow sub-cutaneous suturing practice. The model would also create consistency in testing situations and allow students to practice on their own time. Several different materials, substrates and methods have been tested in consultation with the U of C veterinary professors to find the best solution. Once found, the process can be scaled up to meet the needs of the students and teachers.
